Open house
LISBON FALLS – The Lisbon Historical Society will hold an open house from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 18, at the Archive Museum, 18 School St., Rooms 5 and 6 (use rear entry). For more information, call Dorothy Smith at 353-8510.
Grange meeting
POLAND – Excelsior Grange 5 will meet at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 18, at the hall on Harris Hill Road. Tony Bennett and his karate group will demonstrate their skills. All interested are invited. After the grange business meeting, members will decorate Christmas wreaths, which will be on sale at the holiday fair on Saturday, Dec. 2.
Players encore
MECHANIC FALLS – Poland Players will present an encore performance of the musical “Godspell” at 7 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 18, at the Vineyard Church.
The show is a benefit performance for the local food bank. The cast is asking audience members to bring canned goods for the food bank and to make donations at the door. For more information, contact the director, D’Arcy Robinson, at 998-5400, ext. 218.
Lodge to meet
AUBURN – Liberty Rebekah Lodge 94 will meet at 6 p.m. Monday, Nov. 20, at the meeting room of the Grand Lodge, IOOF, 80 Caron Lane. The refreshments will be in a harvest theme as will the program during the meeting at 7 p.m.
All members are asked to bring a reading, song or poem about Thanksgiving and dress in harvest colors. For the Community Outreach project all are asked to bring nonperishable food for the needy.
Also the Rebekah Assembly statewide project of Coats for Kids, to be turned in on Dec. 2, are to be brought in by the Liberty members at the meeting.
AARP speaker
LEWISTON – The Androscoggin Chapter 4077, AARP, will meet at 1:15 p.m. Monday, Nov. 20, at the Multipurpose Center, Birch Street. The board of directors will meet at 12:30 p.m.
The speaker will be Michael Courtemanche of Modern Woodman of America. He will discuss “Protecting Retirement without Taxing Social Security.” He has been assisting seniors for eight years and is a lifelong resident of the community.
Anyone over the age of 50 is invited to attend and join the organization. Attendance and pot-of-gold drawings will be held. Refreshments will be served.
Bridge results
LEWISTON – The Lewiston-Auburn Social Bridge Club winners at the Multi-Purpose on Nov. 13 were: N/S, first, Paul Beegel and Les Buzzell; second, Dick Allen and Pete Cummings; third/fourth tie, Martine Begert and Mary Leahey with Ellie and George Wigton, first in B; second in B, Sue Kaluzynski and Roger Briggs.
E/W, first, Linda Leotsakos and Jan Arey; second, Lucille Bilodeau and Luke Merry; third, Alberta Turner and Helen Little, first in B; fourth, Cynthia and Bill Clifford, second in B.
Games are played every Monday at 9 a.m., a mini-lesson is given, and a partner is guaranteed. Call Rosemarie Goodwin at 783-1734 for information about all duplicate bridge games.
