AUBURN – The staff of the Paradise Salon and Spa, 20 Union St., are donating their time from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday, Sept. 24, to provide haircuts and manicures to at-risk youths from the Androscoggin County Homeless Intervention Program and the Lewiston Day Reporting Center. The youths are currently homeless or are involved with the criminal justice system.
“Paradise Salon and Spa approached us to offer their services to our clients,” said Susan Giambalvo, program operations director for Volunteers of America Northern New England.
“This will be a very special and fun day for these young people and will demonstrate that there are people who truly care about them. We are grateful to Jennifer Gay and her staff for the generous donation of their time and their support of these young people we serve,” said Giambalvo.
The Homeless Youth Intervention Program works with youths in Androscoggin County who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless. The program reaches out into the community to offer assistance to the youths by connecting them with a safe place to stay and the necessary resources for stability in their lives and in the community.
The Androscoggin Juvenile Day Reporting Center is an intensive supervision and case management program for juvenile offenders who are on probation through the Maine Department of Corrections. The program assists juveniles and their families to successfully complete probation and transition to adulthood.
