Bread, Puppet Theater to stage circus in Temple
TEMPLE – The Bread and Puppet Theater, one of the oldest self-supporting theaters in the United States, will perform the First World Insurrection Circus at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 22, at the Temple Stream Theater. Admission is a suggested donation of $10 or pay what you can.
The circus features choreographies of blue horses, antics of the dancing bears, Pinky the FEMA elephant, harmonic turkeys and the Rotten Idea Theater’s distillation of political issues, accompanied by a raucous virtuosic brass band.
More than a dozen books have been written about the Bread and Puppet Theater. It is a show with satire and commentary on the latest developments around the world by giant and miniature puppets of humans and animals alike.
Temple Stream Theater is located in the former First Congregational Church on the Intervale Road just past the Red Schoolhouse. For more information, call 778 2513.
