Supper canceled

PARIS – The baked bean supper to have been held Friday, July 28, at the First Congregational Church has been canceled due to difficulty with the convection oven. The next planned supper will be held from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 25.

Collecting items

OXFORD – His Place Teen Center is collecting items for yard sales to support the center from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday through Monday, Aug. 10 to 14, on Route 26 next to the fish market. The center is also collecting items for its annual Labor Day yard sale Thursday through Tuesday, Aug. 31 to Sept. 5. Set-up will be on Wednesdays, Aug. 9 and 30 respectively.

The center is looking for good salable items. Contact Bert Rugg at 743-9503 or cell 890-8032. Items have to be approved before leaving them. Anyone available to help is asked to contact Rugg.

Sunday services

RAYMOND – The East Raymond Chapel UCC, an historic summertime congregation on Route 85 across from the Raymond Town Hall, is open again for Sunday morning services at 8:30 a.m., summer only.

The Rev. Joyce A. Long, pastor, said the chapel has a small congregation that includes a number of year-round residents as well as visitors and summertime residents who return year after year. She said everyone is welcome. Long is the year-round pastor of the Casco Village Church UCC.

Flower show

ANDOVER – The 55th annual Flower Show will take place from 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 5, at the Andover Historical Society Building. Entries will be received between 5:30 to 8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 4. Doors will be closed during judging. Entries must be picked up between 4 and 5:30 p.m. Saturday.

Awards will be given for first, second, third and honorable mention, best of show and judges’ award. All decisions are final and the judges may withhold awards at their discretion.

Categories include arrangement in basket, white flower, song title or poem, wildflowers, arrangement in wooden container or one using herbs and grasses, cup and saucer, mug arrangements, 12 years and younger/your choice; in memory of someone special, houseplants, arrangements by professionals.
