Rumford Lodge of Elks 862 honored two six-graders at St. Athanasius St. John School for winning the Americanism essay contest. The theme for the contest was “What I Feel When I Look Up at the American Flag.” From the left are Americanism Chairwoman Debi Briggs, Justin Roy, Tori Gordon and teacher Thea Dunn. Gordon was also the girls’ overall winner for the area. Gordon and Roy received money awards from the Elks. All participants received a certificate along with an American flag, pencil and a red or blue wristband.
