Church supper
WATERFORD – A public supper will be held from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 11, at the North Waterford Congregational Church, Five Kezars Road. Menu will include baked beans, American chop suey, casseroles, salads, brown bread, rolls, beverages and strawberry shortcake. Cost for adults is $7 and children under 12 $3.50.
Expanded hours
HARTFORD – The Hartford Community Church Clothing Center has expanded its hours. It is now open the second Wednesday of the month from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. as well as the first and third Saturdays from 9 to 11 a.m. The center is located on Church Street across from the church.
Museum hours
HARTFORD – The summer hours for the J & O Irish Museum, 1225 Main St., are 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday, through July and August.
Spaghetti supper
OXFORD – A spaghetti supper will be held at 5:30 p.m. Saturday, July 15, at Grace Fellowship Church, Poplar Street. Dessert will be homemade pies, and gospel music will follow the meal. Cost for adults is $6 and children 12 and under $3.
Society meeting
WEST PARIS – The West Paris Historical Society will meet at the hall on Monday, July 17, with a barbecue grill being fired up at 5 p.m. Members and guest will bring their own meats, and the society will supply condiments, tea and coffee. There will be an open house tour.
The society is in need of donations, good clean used items, for a yard and bake sale to be held from 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 12. For pick-up or for more information, call Betty Jones at 674-2507, David Ring at 743-6733 or Becky Stevens at 743-2333.
Band to perform
PARIS – The Paris Department of Parks and Recreation has announced that a local band, the Elizabeth Country Drifters, will perform from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, July 19, in the gazebo at Moore Park. The appearance is part of the town’s 2006 summer entertainment series.
The Elizabeth Country Drifters will feature Lolalee Dillingham on vocals. The group specializes in bluegrass and country music. Dillingham has traveled competing in country music competitions and performing at festivals. Most recently, a trip to Nashville earned her awards.
Admission is free and it is open to the public. Those attending are encouraged to bring a lawn chair or blanket. Guests are welcome to pack a picnic. In case of rain, the event will be at the Paris Fire Hall, Western Avenue, South Paris. For more information, contact the recreation director at 743-2501.
Bridge play
NORWAY – The Oxford Hills Bridge Club met July 7 at Fare Share Commons where a five- table Howell movement was played. Finishing first in Flight A were Adele Bendes and Larry Holmes; second, Nancy Farmer and Marta Clements, first in Flight B; and third, Mike Quinn and Bill Bowman.
Second in Flight B were Bailey Geeslin and Nick Karamessinis; third, Richard Balian and Dick Allen; first in Flight C, Carol Curran Mimi Bell; second, Barbara and Paul Beegel.
Another game will be held on Friday, July 14 and all bridge players are welcome. A partner is guaranteed. For information, call Les Buzzell at 783-4153.
