HEBRON – Hebron Academy held commencement exercises on May 27, awarding diplomas to 59 seniors from 11 states and five countries and provinces.
Local students in the graduating class included the following:
Molly Curtis of Turner received the Risman Honor Award, Senior Scholarship Prize, the Hebron Academic Excellence awards for Latin and science, and Maine Principals’ Association Scholarship.
Daniella Lyons of Greene, who will attend St. Anselm’s College, received the Charles and Amy Dwyer Memorial Award and Bessie Fenn Award.
Allison Coombs of Livermore, who plans to attend Bentley College, received the Hebron Academic Excellence Award for her work in English, and the Regis A. Lepage Scholarship Prize, given by Lepage Bakeries of Auburn in honor of Regis A. Lepage.
Amanda Robinson of Hebron received the Lorimer Scholarship Prize, given in memory of Louise Pinkham Lorimer, and the Hebron Academic Excellence Award in Art. She plans to attend the University of Maine in September.
Jonathan Phillips of Auburn, who will attend Wheaton College, received Hebron Academic Excellence Awards in recognition of his scholarship in mathematics and music.
The Hebron Athletic Award, given for superior performance in the field of athletics, cooperation, leadership and fair play, was awarded to Joshua Taylor of Raymond.
Samuel Chandler of Bath received the Bernat Memorial Award and the Morton Prize. Chandler will attend the University of Southern Maine in the fall.
The Edward Tate II Green Key Award, given in the name of a graduate of the Class of 1957 to honor a senior, was awarded to Kelley Hilton of Norway, who will attend the University of New England.
Erik Rousseau of Auburn received the Ernest Sherman Award, presented in memory of “Jack” Sherman, for many years chef-steward of Hebron Academy.
Samantha Baril of Hebron will attend Pace University and Tyler Thayer of Auburn will attend the University of Colorado at Boulder. They were the recipients of the Reed Awards.
Undergraduate awards
Undergraduate accomplishments were recognized at the baccalaureate ceremonies on May 26. Sara Powers, Auburn, received the National Society of Women Engineers Award and, with Katherine Cole, New Gloucester, received the Harvard University Book Prize. Cole also received the L. Edward Willard Prize in English.
Lauren Tardif, Auburn, received the Hebron Academy Parents’ Association Art Award; Tiffany Bichrest, Harpswell, was recognized for her contributions to the Hebron community with the Charlotte A. Stonebraker Community Scholarship Prize; Allison Maidman, Cumberland, received the Compton Prize in Languages; Cum Laude Prize in Geometry, presented to the winner of a special examination, was awarded to Calvin Tweedie, Bar Harbor.
Noah Love, Portland, received the Middlebury College Book Award; Kelsey Jordan, Gray, received the Smith College Book Award.
The Dartmouth Book Award, presented by the Dartmouth Alumni Club of Maine, went to Kirk Turner, Harrison.
