Can you imagine a week where you only went to school four days a week? Imagine having three day weekends every week. Imagine having Friday or Monday off. This could happen if we had four day school weeks. The schools that do now have the four day week system usually have Monday or Friday off. It not only makes the kids and teachers feel good, it saves money for the school, and could potentially raise grades.

Having four day weeks makes kids feel good because then kids have an extended weekend every week. We don’t have to learn on the fifth day like we do now with the five day school week system. If kids have good morale they will less likely get in trouble. Also, if kids feel good about school, it is a fact that they will not miss as many school days.

Besides making kids feel good, it also saves the school money because the school doesn’t have to pay for all the extra gas because we only have to use the bus four times a week instead of five. Also, you don’t have to pay for the electricity because we go to school for only four days rather than five. With the extra money that the school has saved, they can have more money to buy new textbooks instead of using old books from the 1960s. The books will be more updated so the kids will learn about stuff more current. Lastly, they will save the money that they usually pay substitute teachers because they won’t need them as much.

Having four day school weeks doesn’t just make kids feel good or save the school money. It can also potentially raise kids’ grades. It could do this because with school days 90 minutes longer, teachers could get more time to answer questions and teach the kids more in-depth in subjects and topics. So if the teachers are able to answer more questions, the students would be able to understand the material. If the kids are able to understand the material, they will do better on tests and standard testing.

Now imagine a school where there were four day weeks. A school where kids are not reading textbooks that say that someday humans will land on the moon (I have once read a textbook where it said that). A school where they had money to get the updated books and had enough money to take kids on field trips. The school systems should have four day school weeks because kids will be more motivated, the school will have more money to spend on books, and the kids will understand the material better.
