WALTHAM, Mass. – The following local students have been named to the Bentley College president’s list for the spring semester:
Michael J. Albert of Lewiston has achieved extraordinary academic achievement as a junior majoring in accountancy.
Michael D. Perreault of Lewiston has achieved extraordinary academic achievement as a sophomore majoring in management.
To be named to the president’s list, a full-time student must have a grade point average of 3.7 or higher with no course grade below 3.0 during the term.
The following local students have been named to the dean’s list:
Adam Nason of Auburn has achieved outstanding academic achievement as a junior majoring in accountancy.
Kristin O’Brien of Gray has achieved outstanding academic achievement as a senior majoring in information design and corporate comm.
Mariah Cassidy of Turner has achieved outstanding academic achievement as a sophomore majoring in marketing.
Three graduate
BOSTON – Emmanuel College held its 84th commencement on May 13 when the following local students graduated, receiving bachelor of arts degrees:
Laura-Lea Brown of Auburn, majored in psychology – health and counseling. Brown graduated cum laude.
Peter Whaley of Hebron, majored in psychology – health and counseling.
Cynthia Tabor of Lewiston, majored in history.
Moore receives divinity award
BOSTON – Harvard Divinity School has announced the recipients of its 2006 distinguished Alumni/ae Awards, which includes Gwendolyn Moore of Topsham, winner of the First Decade Award. She was honored at the school’s alumni/ae dinner on June 6 at the Harvard Club of Boston.
Moore is the founder of the Gwen Moore Children of China Fund, which benefits children and families in Luodian County in Guizhou Province, China, by supporting education for children, advancing literacy in adults, providing training for good health, and creating sustainable economic initiatives through micro-enterprise.
She began her career in management consulting, but left to pursue a master of divinity degree at HDS – graduating in 2000 – while also working with children in rural China. She founded the Gwen Moore Children of China Fund in 2002. Moore is also the chief capacity building officer for Volunteers of America Northern New England headquartered in Brunswick.
The First Decade Award was established in 1989 to recognize an HDS graduate from the past 10 years whose professional pursuits have demonstrated the values and skills developed at the divinity school, and “who is an inspiration and encouragement to all graduates to rededicate themselves to the values, hopes, and visions that led them to study at HDS and launched them into service since.”
Franklin Pierce
RINDGE, N.H. – Franklin Pierce College of Rindge, N.H., has named the following local students to the Dean’s Honor List for the spring semester:
Matthew Pettengill of Lewiston, majoring in biology.
Elizabeth Ellis of Turner, majoring in marketing.
The honor list recognizes the academic achievements of those students who have maintained a grade point average of at least 3.65 or higher throughout the semester.
Renee Hamann of Lewiston, majoring in liberal arts, was named to the spring dean’s list.
Students who have been named to the dean’s list have maintained a grade point average of 3.3 or above.
Two on dean’s list
GROVE CITY, Pa. – Two area Grove City College students have achieved academic achievements during the spring.
Steven Abbott, majoring in applied physics, a 2003 graduate of Buckfield Junior Senior High School, was named to the dean’s list. He is the son of Sheryll and Stuart Abbott of Sumner.
Carrie Smith, majoring in Spanish, is a 2004 graduate of Edward Little High School of Auburn and is the daughter of Dr. David and Elizabeth Smith of Old Orchard Beach. She was named to the dean’s list with distinction.

Saint Michael’s College
Saint Michael’s College, a liberal arts, residential Catholic college located in the Burlington area of Vermont, has recently named the following local students to the spring semester dean’s list:
Kate E. Mooney, daughter of Thomas and Audrey Mooney of Gray, a sophomore majoring in political science.
Ethyn N. Brodeur, son of Normand and Denise Brodeur of Lewiston, senior majoring in business administration.
Students who complete a minimum of 12 credits and achieve a grade point average of at least 3.4 at the end of a semester are recognized for their scholarship by inclusion on the dean’s list.
