This is a 2012 rendering showing a possible expansion plan for Bates College that includes a new quad that would replace much of Wood Street south of Campus Avenue — the project in the upper left of the drawing. The red buildings are proposed construction. At the time, none of the proposed buildings along the south side of Campus existed, but in the years since, Bates has constructed two of them, both residence halls. It has also announced plans for a new science building next door to them. The plans were prepared for Bates by the Auburn-based Harriman design firm, which has worked with the college for years on its future facilities.
