BETHEL – Due to a scheduling conflict, Earle G. Shettleworth Jr., state historian and director of the Maine Historic Preservation Commission, will speak at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, June 1, at the Bethel Historical Society Regional History Center’s Dr. Moses Mason House Meeting Room, 14 Broad St.
His topic has also been changed to “Silent Sentinels: Maine’s Civil War Monuments.” He had earlier been scheduled to speak on the artist Harrison Bird Brown on June 8, but that has been rescheduled for June 2007.
Donations of items in good condition (no clothing or computers) are being solicited for the Bethel Historical Society’s annual St. Never’s Day sale on Saturday, May 27. All donations can be left on the back porch of the O’Neil Robinson House, 10 Broad St. and the side porch of Stan Howe’s home at 18 Broad St. For pick-up of items, call the society office at 824-2908.
