AUBURN – “Grand Hotel, the Musical,” winner of five Tony Awards, will be staged by the Community Little Theatre in March. The play has continuous action of song, dance and music, with stories of the eccentric guests who pass through the huge revolving doors of the fictional Grand Hotel set in 1928.

The hotel is the world’s most extravagant, opulent hotel, and guests manage to return one more time to bask in the richness and decadence of the era. They are living on their past fame and glory, fortune and health.

The schemes, plots, secrets and fates of the characters are revealed as they cope with life and hope for one more chance at happiness. Grand Hotel contrasts comedy, tragedy, glitz and realism. The show has a mature theme and is played without intermission.

Raymond Marc Dumont, after a hiatus of several years, is returning to direct and choreograph the show. He was choreographer for the show when it was presented here 11 years ago.

Also an actor, Dumont performed in the Philadelphia production of the show a few years ago with many of the Broadway Company, even having the original costumes from the show.

Paul G. Caron, lyricist and music composer, fresh from his run of “Lewiston – A New Home,” is musical director. Caron is a familiar presence at CLT, having directed several musicals. His latest was “Fiddler on the Roof” in August.
