BETHEL – The Dr. Moses Mason House Museum will be decked in boughs, berries and fruit for the annual “Christmas with the Masons,” re-creating an early 19th century holiday experience, at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 8.
There will be hot mulled cider served from the hearth of the winter kitchen and special Christmas treats offered in the dining room with holiday harp music from the parlor wafting around the historic house’s interior.
Fireplaces will be lit and at least one person will be present to demonstrate an old-time craft.
Visitors will be taken back to an era when Dr. and Mrs. Mason hosted gatherings of friends and family. Everyone is welcome.
Following that portion of the evening, there will be a showing of the recent “Made in Maine” MPBN show that was based in Bethel. The program, which features an interview by host Lou McNally with Bethel Historical Executive Director Stanley R. Howe, focused on the “Barn Again!” Smithsonian Institution exhibit.
It will be followed by an episode of “Chronicle,” from Boston’s Channel 5, discussing northern New England’s U.S. Route 2 with coverage of several local sites.
