LEWISTON – Marshwood Residential Care Unit celebrated Sept. 11 to 17 as National Assisted Living Week. The theme was “A Fair to Remember.” Staff members offered their ideas and memories of old-time Country fairs.

Staff then set up displays that simulated memorable events such as an exhibition hall at the fair. Also displayed were a spinning wheel, an old wringer washing machine, an antique kitchen scenario, a quilting scene, a vegetable garden, a lifelike ceramic pig with corn and an antique wooden rocking horse and doll display. The area was decorated with flowers.

Other events throughout the week were homemade zucchini whoopee pies, a field trip to an area farm for a barbecue and a country buffet chicken dinner with biscuits and gravy. In honor of the theme, “A Fair to Remember,” the week-long festivities wrapped up with a movie of “Ma and Pa Kettle at the Fair.”
