LEWISTON – The Pack the Bus food drive for the Good Shepherd Food Pantry was a resounding success. On Friday, Nov. 18, organizers rode a bus to businesses in the Lewiston/Auburn area collecting food and cash donations.

The next day, the bus was parked outside Shaw’s Supermarket in Auburn, where volunteers accepted donations from the public. The bus was filled to the brim following the two-day event and $1,737.88 in cash was raised.

The pantry is in the process to moving to its new home in the Wallace Building on the corner of Bates and Walnut streets. It is scheduled to open Monday, Nov. 28. Due to the move, organizers haven’t been able to finalize how many pounds of food they collected, but said the bus seemed fuller than it was after the food drive last year.
