NEW VINEYARD – The Maine Department of Transportation will meet with residents at 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 3, at Smith Hall to discuss the proposed replacement of Porter Lake Bridge.
MaineDOT would like to begin engineering work to develop preliminary plans for the replacement of the bridge, which carries Route 234 over Porter Lake Stream. The existing bridge is a steel plate arch on concrete footings constructed in 1954.
Before proceeding with the engineering work, the department wants to hear from drivers and residents. Representatives will listen to comments and concerns and answer questions. The department is particularly interested in hearing views regarding the consistency of the project with local comprehensive plans in identifying resources, concerns and issues.
Other areas of discussion will include construction times and maintenance of traffic during construction.
Anyone with an interest in the project is invited to attend and participate.
