Basket bingo
NORWAY – Basket bingo will be held Sunday, Nov. 6, at the Norway American Legion Post 82, Main Street. Doors open at 11 a.m. and bingo starts at 12:30. Admission is $10 in advance for 16 games at the Child Health Center, 199 Main St., or $13 at the door. The event will benefit the Child Health Center Preschool. Knitting guild
PARIS – The Western Maine Knitting Guild meets at the First Congregational Church, 17 East Main Street, South Paris, from 10 a.m. to noon the first Tuesday of every month. The next meeting will be Nov. 1. A yarn auction is planned following the meeting. Anyone interested in knitting is welcome. For more information, call Midge Leighton at 743-7677.
Halloween event
WEST PARIS – The West Paris Library invites children to decorate Halloween sugar cookies at the library any time from 2:30 to 5:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 28. For more information, call the library at 674-2004.
Waterford Santa
WATERFORD – Waterford Santa is a new organization that hopes to make Christmas brighter for families who need some assistance with Christmas presents. It is a joint community-school-church volunteer organization, which will coordinate gift-giving through applications for assistance. All request will be kept confidential.
Applications will be distributed to all students at Waterford Elementary School. Those who know of anyone else who needs an application, including senior citizens, should call. Applications are available at the school and town office.

Sunday service
NORWAY – The Sunday service for Oct. 30 at the First Universalist Church, Norway, Unitarian Universalist, 479 Main St., will be at 11 a.m. Child care will be provided as well as a religious education program for children.
Choir practice will be at 9:30 a.m. Sunday with Heather Pierson, music director. Those who like to sing are invited to participate in the choir.
The service will be led by Joe Perham with reflections on “We Pass This Way But Once.” Perham, a Maine humorist and a member of the First Universalist Church, West Paris, is a frequent celebrant at the Norway UU Church.
