Senior Ben Parkin was voted Best Hair of 2008, but on November 12th 2007, he cut off 15 inches of hair and sent it to Locks of Love. “I got sick of it, it was cool for a while, but a pain to deal with.”
Locks of Love is a foundation that helps children that loose hair due to medical reason; the disease is called ‘alopecia areata’ which has no cure or known cause. Locks of love strives to boost child’s confidence by making them wigs out of people’s hair.
Locks of Love was founded in 1997 in December by a lady who name was Mrs. Coffman. Mrs. Coffman was 20 years old when she developed alopecia areata cancer. Fifteen years later, her four year old daughter developed alopecia areata cancer, this strive for her to start a foundation.

Many students at Leavitt have donated to Locks of Love such as; Shane Creeps, Paige Dyer, Cayla Coolidge, and Noah Poto.
