MEXICO – The children of Wee Care Daycare held a presentation of awards for reaching their goal of burning 1,000,000 calories in 10 weeks. Each child burned about 1/12th of the calories.

Although there were 18 children involved on any one day, there were 12 children involved daily. They hiked, biked, swam, swung, climbed, danced, did house chores, free played, picked berries and climbed mountains. They also played tennis, soccer and four squares.

Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield rewards program heard about the program and donated the prizes. Along with the exercise, the children participated in the Mexico Library’s summer reading program so they could keep up with their reading skills. With the help of their caregivers, Janet Touchette and Denielle Richard, the children had a busy summer.
