AUBURN – Thomas Trottier, commander of the Capt. Frank W. Hulett Post 1603, Veterans of Foreign Wars, is planning bi-weekly breakfasts, which will begin Sunday, Oct. 2, at the post home, 588 Minot Ave.
Trottier said, “We are anxious to start our breakfasts for the third year, as the profits help us keep our commitments to our community and our veterans.”
Proceeds from the October through November breakfasts will benefit Auburn Blue Christmas, which helps the needy during the Christmas holidays. December and January proceeds will go to the New Auburn Little League; March, the VFW’s “Operation Uplink” phone cards for overseas and hospitalized veterans; and April, the National Home for Children in Eaton Rapids, Mich.
Cost for one egg, bacon, sausage, home-fries and toast is $3.50; two eggs, bacon, sausage, home-fries and toast, $4; or two eggs, two pancakes, two slices of bacon, two sausages, home-fries and toast, $4.50. Sales tax, coffee and juice are included in the prices. The breakfasts are held from 8 to 10 a.m.
Cooking on the grill will be master chef Trottier and pancakes by Danny Theriault. Volunteers are needed. For information about the breakfasts or the VFW and its auxiliaries, phone the post from 2 to 6 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays, or anytime call 784-3024 or 784-6883.
