AUBURN – As part if its Wellness 101 series, the Auburn-Lewiston YMCA will offer two free express training workshops on Wednesday, Sept. 28. The workshops will give participants an opportunity to sample a fun and time efficient workout.

Both will be identical; the first from 10:30 a.m. to noon and the second one from 5:30 to 7 p.m. While the sessions are free, participants are asked to register at the YMCA by Sept. 27 as class size is limited.

The Wellness 101 series is designed to introduce the principles of several wellness issues that face society today. The YMCA’s goal is to help individuals in the L/A community make informed and educated decisions on healthy lifestyles.

Past workshops have focused on functional training, strength-training, nutrition, stress management and Pilates. A free Wellness 101 workshop is held every month.

“We will introduce non-traditional training techniques that will help you overcome your plateaus while also making your workout more time efficient,” said Doug McFarland, YMCA health and fitness director. “Our workshops will give the participants ideas for new training methods for efficient and intense workouts that increase strength and conditioning levels.”

McFarland and Tish Caldwell, wellness coordinator, will run the workshops utilizing various cardiovascular and strength training methods. All levels are welcome and participants are encouraged to wear workout clothing.
