PARIS – Adele Beardsworth, LPN, has been honored as the Market Square Health Care Center 2005 Caregiver of the Year, announced Philip DuBois, administrator.
Beardsworth will be honored at a luncheon banquet at the Sheraton in South Portland on Wednesday, Sept. 14, as part of the third annual Excellence in Long Term Care Conference.
“Adele has demonstrated a level of compassion and commitment to the residents at Market Square that distinguishes her as an exceptional caregiver,” said DuBois. “She not only cares for her patients, but for everyone around her. She’s a remarkable person.”
Held annually by the Maine Health Care Association and the Maine Long Term Care Ombudsman Program as part of the Excellence in Long Term Care Program, the regional conferences are designed to recognize and thank caregivers for their dedication.
In addition to the celebratory aspect of the program, speakers provide knowledge and tools to enable staff members to continue excelling in their care giving role. As part of the program, each long term care facility in Maine nominates an employee who is then honored at the luncheon banquet.
“Truthfully, I was taken aback by my nomination,” said Beardsworth. “I am who I am. I’m not sure why or who nominated me, or what specific act if any. I couldn’t do it without such an awesome staff.”
A Maine native, Beardsworth graduated from Bristol Plymouth in Taunton, Mass., as an LPN in 1996. She has served the patients of Market Square for more than four years. Originally from North Attleboro, Mass., Beardsworth resides in Norway.
