Hospital reunion

FARMINGTON – Fourteen former employees of the old Franklin County Memorial Hospital met Aug. 12 at Deer Crossing Apts. to reminisce about their years together.

The group included doctors, operating room personnel, maternity nurses, an x-ray technician, nurses, nurses aids, housekeeping and kitchen workers.

A potluck lunch was enjoyed and a short business meeting followed. For the past few years Vivian Kennedy has made sure the reunion was held annually, but the group relunctantly voted to discontinue the reunions due to low attendance and the fact that the new hospital has been in operation for over 30 years.

It was also voted to take what money has accumulated over the years and give it to the hospital auxiliary for the nurses scholarship fund. For many years they have given six scholarships each year to area students who are pursuing a nursing degree.
