LEWISTON – A course in plant layout and material handling will be offered this fall at USM’s Lewiston-Auburn College.

The course, offered through USM’s Department of Technology, will focus on study of facility and workplace design. Emphasis will be on efficient layout and material flow through manufacturing, warehousing and service facilities, with attention given to the resulting impacts on product and process quality and environmental factors.

The three-credit course (ITP 310) will meet from 4 to 6:30 p.m. Wednesdays, beginning Sept. 7. Registration is open through the first week of classes.

Industrial technology is a baccalaureate program designed to prepare management-oriented professionals. The “Option II: Occupational Assessment” track in the program is designed for students who already possess significant training, education or experience in a technical field and want to earn a bachelor’s degree.

Many students in the program are graduates of technical/community colleges or have many years of technical experience through the military.
