LEWISTON – The American Red Cross will offer two multi-day programs for youth in August.
“Basic Aid Training” will be held from 9 to 11:30 a.m. Fridays, Aug. 5 through 26, at the chapter office, 137 East Ave.
The course is an activity-based safety education program for 8- to 10-year-olds that includes practice in what to do if someone chokes, prevention and care for first aid emergencies, as well as safety precautions for swimming, boating or bicycling. Children must attend all four classes.
“Babysitter’s Training/Child and Infant CPR” will take place from 8:30 a.m. to noon Monday through Thursday, Aug. 8 to 11, at the office. It is a way to prepare 11- to 15-year-olds to care for younger siblings or for that first babysitting job. Topics will include providing basic care to infants and small children, safe toys and play and certification in American Red Cross Child and Infant CPR.
Classes are taught by American Red Cross authorized instructors.
