PARIS – The annual McLaughlin Foundation Garden Tour will take place in South Paris and Paris Hill from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, July 23, rain or shine. This year’s tour features eight private gardens, the grounds of a bed and breakfast and a small flower show.

This year’s tour offers variety for those interested in different types of gardens. A front yard packed with perennials, a whimsical yard, creative use of granite in the landscape and a driveway lined with annuals are on this year’s tour.

One of the gardens is tended by three neighbors with adjoining plots. Another gardener has created a decorative vegetable garden and a shaded area. Several boast views to the White Mountains of New Hampshire. Many of the gardens complement the antique architecture of the owner’s home, while some of the yards are for newer homes.

The flower show will be held at the Paris Hill Country Club. It revives the old Paris Hill tradition of flower shows. The nearby Community Club, housed in the former Paris Hill Academy, will host lunch. No reservations are necessary for the lunch, which will be available at an additional charge.

Tickets for this year’s tour are $10 in advance and $12 on the day of the tour. Because the gardens may be viewed in any order, advance ticket holders may plan which garden is most convenient for them to visit first and may avoid crowded gardens numbered closer to the beginning of the tour by visiting those gardens last.

Tickets are available at the McLaughlin Foundation in South Paris and at Books N Things at Oxford Plaza. On the day of the tour, tickets will also be sold at the Paris Hill Historical Society on Tremont Street.

The proceeds will support the garden at the McLaughlin Foundation.
