PARIS – The Paris Cape Historical Society will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday, July 21, at 77 High St., South Paris, when John R. Davis will speak on “Railfanning in Japan.”

Davis will explain that “railfanning” refers to an activity engaged in by railroad enthusiasts and will tell some of his experiences riding the rails in Japan. At the time he was in the military and had the opportunity to absorb the history of railroading in Japan.

Davis lives in South Paris. He is historian of the Canadian railway and Grand Trunk-New England Lines. He is editor of the CN Special Interest Group magazine. Davis will display memorabilia of the Japan National Railway, which he collected while stationed in Japan.

The public is welcome to the meeting, at which refreshments will be served. The historic museum is open Thursdays from 1 to 4 p.m. and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
