PARIS – An Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School senior was surprised with a scholarship awarded by Oxford Wal-Mart during Class Night.

The scholarship, awarded to Alicia Irish, was a new Compaq Presario desktop computer. The local managers of Oxford Wal-Mart, Shannon McFarland and R.J. Nowak, donate the computer each year because they feel it is important to support the community and students.

This is the second year that Wal-Mart has presented a computer to a graduating senior. The idea was initiated through the Education Committee of the Oxford Hills Chamber of Commerce.

Irish is planning to attend the University of Southern Maine in the fall and will eventually transfer to a college where she will major in pharmacology.
