The Book Thief by Markus Zusak takes you on a thrilling adventure back in the dark days of World War Two. The story starts out with Lesile and how she came to have her first stolen book, on a snowy winters day in December, right before she gets dropped off in the small town of Himmelstreet.

Himmelstreet is a street that has a lemon haired boy named Rudy who would die to get a kiss from Lesile. Her new foster parents are Rosa and Hans Humberman. There is a secret in Himmel street though, the Humbermams are hiding a Jewish man.
