RUMFORD – Members of the class of 1952 from Stephens High School will meet at 11:30 a.m. Monday, May 2, at the Island Cafe on Congress Street for the monthly luncheon. All class members are welcome. Those who wish to attend should call Barbara for reservation at 364-3470.

Opening

RUMFORD – Briar Patch Greenhouse on Hancock Street will be open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday, May 4, for Mother’s Day weekend. Proceeds will benefit Oxford ARC.

Supper/dance

RUMFORD – The Region 9 School of Applied Technology Parent Involvement team will host a benefit supper and dance on Saturday, May 7, at the American Legion. The spaghetti supper will be from 5 to 7 p.m. and the dance will be from 8 p.m. to midnight.

Tickets are available at Region 9, through Parent Involvement team members or at the door.

Tickets for the dinner will be $5 a person, $3 for students and children under 5 are free. Dance tickets are $5 a person or $8 a couple.

Award winners

RUMFORD – The River Valley Chamber of Commerce announces the winners of the 2005 Business Person of the Year, Volunteer of the Year, Customer Service of the Year and Nonprofit Organization of the Year awards.

They are: Sherry Milligan of Davis Florist, Business Person of the Year; Tammi Lyons, Volunteer of the Year; Hannaford Food and Drug, Customer Service of the Year; and Libra Foundation, Nonprofit Organization of the Year.

The awards will be presented at the River Valley Chamber of Commerce annual dinner meeting on Saturday, May 14. There will be food, a live auction and dance with a western theme. For more information, contact the chamber office at 364-3241.

Volunteers needed

RUMFORD – Volunteers are needed to help staff the Rumford Information Center during the tourist season. Those interested must have knowledge of the River Valley area and enjoy meeting people.
