AUBURN – The YMCA of Auburn-Lewiston is offering two lifeguard certification courses. Space is still available for the course set to begin Saturday. Course dates are April 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21, 22 and 23. Call or stop by the YMCA for specifics on class times or to register.
The second course will be held on the following dates: April 25, 28, May 2, 5, 9, 11, 23, 26 and 31. Combined classroom and pool time will run about 6:30 to 10 p.m. each night.
There are several prerequisites for the courses, including a 500-yard swim and a minimum age of 15. Upon completion of the course, the lifeguard certification and first aid are good for three years, and the CPR expires after one year.
Course fee is $200, including materials. Class size is limited to eight students. People may register at the Auburn-Lewiston YMCA, 62 Turner St.
