I am endorsing Ned Claxton for state Senate. My support for him comes not from being family or a close friend; rather, it comes from having met him just a few months ago. Frankly, I was blown away. Enough to take the time to urge others to get to know him, too.
I met Claxton at a small gathering in New Gloucester. We spent several hours learning about his background as a long-time, trusted doctor, and why he cares about our region. But mostly, he listened. He understands people and loves Maine. He struck me as more interested in finding common ground than pushing a one-sided agenda.
There is an old adage that one should not run for office until asked, or until the need is so great that you feel you cannot do otherwise.
That is Ned Claxton. And that is why he has my support.
