AVON – A North Maine Woods survival course, Women in the Outdoors, will be offered starting Feb. 15 at the Opportunity Center of North Franklin County, 105 Avon Valley Road.

The course will be held from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Feb. 15, 17, 22, 24, and March 1 and 3. Other class dates include from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Feb. 19 and March 5.

The course will include map and compass training, survival techniques, first aid, tracking and cooking. The instructor will be Rick Rogers. The class will be limited to 10 students, and mothers and daughters (ages 12 and up) are welcome to participate. The cost is $50 and it is offered through SAD 58 Adult and Community Education.
