FARMINGTON – The Farmington Emblem Club 460 met recently at the West Farmington Elks Lodge with 42 members present. Club President Rebecca Powell called the meeting to order.

Americanism Chairwoman Lois Barker read one of President Franklin D. Roosevelt’s “Fireside Chats.”

Under community service, the club voted to donate money to the area food pantries. It was reported the triplets that the club had held a gift and money shower for are home and doing well.

Shannon Smith told members that plans are being worked out for the Emblem-sponsored Valentine dance in February. She said 300 area youth cheerleaders attended the annual banquet in November. Several club members helped serve the girls and their coaches. The club voted to decorate another Christmas tree in December 2005 to be auctioned off by the Rotary Club.

Sharon Jacques and Sylvia Richards spoke of the craft fair and got volunteers to help on the day of the fair, selling food, crafts, cutlery and books.

Barbara Hinkley reminded members who were to help her at the annual Christmas party in Turner for foster children.

Betty Houle won the 50-50 raffle. Sunshine was won by Stardom Bardon and pot of gold by Sue Mattice.

The January meeting will honor this year’s Emblem Club scholarship winners starting with a spaghetti supper. State Emblem Club President Linda Littlefield and her marshal will make her visitation that evening.

Christmas snacks and a gift-swapping party followed the meeting.
