BRYANT POND – Members of Oxford Pomona Grange 2 met at Franklin Grange on Oct. 6. James Owens, State Grange overseer, traveled from Bingham. He served as master when the fifth (or Pomona) degree was conferred on Germaine Boothby of Lakeside Grange and George Palmer of Pleasant Valley Grange.

With the State Grange annual meeting coming up later this month in Bangor, it was necessary to select two delegates: Vickie Clark, and Stanley Howe, who is State Grange historian.

Russell Yates and Peggy Blake are the alternates and they also represent Franklin Grange 124. Some of the resolutions to be presented were discussed.

The Committee on Women’s Activities agreed to make a donation to the Military Family Support Group.

Peggy Blake said she had not received an application for the scholarship for a long time. It was felt that the word needs to go out about it. The scholarship is available to a child or grandchild of any grange member. The applicant must have completed at least one semester of post-secondary education and be enrolled for the next semester. To apply, contact Blake at 194 High St., West Paris, or 674-3872.

A program was presented by Lecturer and State Deputy Laura Hutchins, opening with a song. A skit was presented by Richard Felt, Russell Yates and Peggy Blake. Mystery March winners were Nina Grover, Bertha DeHaas and Vickie Clark with DeHaas also winning the 50/50 drawing. Another song closed the program. Resolutions of respect were read for Audrey Hadley.

As Election Day will be on the usual November Pomona meeting date, the session will be held the following day, Nov. 3, at Alder River Grange in East Bethel and will be preceded by the usual 6:30 p.m. supper. Visitors are to bring desserts.
