DIXFIELD – Neighborly Senior Citizens will observe their 35th anniversary on Wednesday, Oct. 20, at the Dixfield Legion. The meeting will begin at 11 a.m. followed by a baked ham dinner with all the fixings at a cost of $3 a person. Entertainment will be provided by Just the Two of Us, Norman and Betty DeCoteau.

Membership in the Neighborly Seniors is open to anyone age 50 and over. Dues are $5 a year.

There is space available on the Monday, Dec. 6, Christmas party trip to Indian Head Resort in Lincoln, N.H. Cost is $42 a person. Nonmembers are welcome. Pick-up points are in Dixfield, Mexico and Bethel.

Potato Fest

RUMFORD – The Acadian Society will meet at 6 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 21, in the St. Athanasius and St. John Parish Center for a Potato Fest. It is asked that those who plan to attend bring a potato dish to share. Following the meeting there will be a sharing of experiences from those who attended the Acadian Congress Mondial in August.

Auction, lunch

DIXFIELD – The Dirigo Music Association will hold a Chinese auction and luncheon from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 23, at Dirigo High School. There are lots of items to win including Portland Symphony tickets and signed photo of John Travolta and Kevin Eubanks from the Tonight show. Harvest dance

RUMFORD – St. Athanasius and St. John’s/St. Theresa’s Youth Ministry Group will sponsor a harvest dance from 7:30 to 11 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 23, at Park Place. Noel Palmer of the E/I Country Band, together with musician, Don Levesque, will provide dance music, including country, oldies and soft rock.

Tickets are $6 a person and can be purchased from Julie and Kari Lothrop, Kelly Palmer, Kortnee Hill, Kristin Stevens, Sharon Gates or at All That Jazz. A 50/50 and raffles will also be held.

Library program

RUMFORD – New Hampshire Poet Laureate John Perrault will present a program of ballads and lyrics and lyrical ballads at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 27, in the Public Library.
