OXFORD – Youth Outreach Ministries Inc. has received a grant from the Maine Mentoring Partnership, which serves as the intermediary agency for a mentoring grant funded under a contract supported by the Office of Disability Employment Policy of the U.S. Department of Labor.

With the funds, Youth Outreach Ministries will establish a transition mentoring program for youth in the Oxford Hills area. Mentoring relationships will be established between adult volunteers from the community and youth and young adults, ages 16 to 24, who have disabilities.

The relationships will be oriented toward preparing the participants for post-secondary career training/education and/or entering the workforce at an optimum level of employment.

Youth Outreach Ministries has been committed to youth development and has operated His Place Teen Center for the past 12 years. Reaching out to youth between the ages of 12 and 18, the teen center has focused on the social, emotional and spiritual development of the young people. The center is located at 254 Webber Brook Road.

Youth Outreach Ministries will partner with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Western Maine. Big Brothers/Big Sisters is experienced in selecting, screening and matching adult mentors with youth.
