RUMFORD – The Rumford Public Library announces that “Toy Story” will be the Children’s Theatre presentation during the Summer Fest program.
Theater professional Nancy O. DeMilner will return for a sixth season as director of the theater. She has adapted the screenplay by Joss Whedon, Andrew Stanton, Joel Cohen and Alec Sokolow for presentation on the Rumford Hall stage.
Participation in Children’s Theatre is free and open to all children in the area, ages 5 to 15. Older teens interested in backstage work are also welcome.
Auditions will consist of acting warm-ups, group singing and dancing, and a discussion of production details and responsibilities, followed by individual line readings and solo auditions for those interested in major roles.
“We always find room for everyone interested in performance art,” DeMilner said. “The stage experience is vital to our young performers. This year we will focus on stage skills, physical comedy, character-building and acting. Toy Story’ has lots of toy characters, and consists mainly of acting, although there will be a little song and dance included.”
Auditions will be held at 4 p.m. Wednesday 26, at the Rumford Public Library with callbacks at 6 p.m. Thursday, May 27. Rehearsals will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesdays and Wednesdays throughout June and July.
Afternoon and evening performances of the show are planned for Thursday, July 29, in the Rumford Town Hall auditorium. For more information, call the Rumford Public Library at 364-3661.
