WILTON – Greg Lake, accompanied by his father, Mark, gave a presentation on his Eagle Scout project to members of Franklin Grange 50 on April 10.

Lake’s project is restoring an old cemetery located off Bubier Road, also known as old Main Wilton Road. Lake and his crew will clean up leaves and brush as there is quite a bit of deadfall to be removed from the entrance. The entrance gate needs to be replaced and the surrounding rock wall needs to be realigned

There are about 18 headstones in the cemetery and they are in pretty good condition. Among the buried are a captain and a private from the Revolutionary War.

The grange members voted to give a monetary donation and to donate their labor for the work.

Lake is the oldest of three children. He is home schooled but takes courses five days a week at the University of Maine at Farmington to supplement his high school classes.

Lake has been in Scouts for about 12 years. His least favorite badges to work on were graphic arts and photography, but his favorite badge was camping. His future plans are to further his education as he is interested in bio-medical research. Lake also enjoys art work, walking in the woods, snowboarding and playing base guitar.

Lake’s maternal grandfather, John Allen Messeder, was also an Eagle Scout.
