PARIS – South Paris American Legion Auxiliary 72 recently gained seven new members, bringing total membership to 131. The unit held a ceremony in which two women were initiated with form – Paula Jordan and Laurie Wiacek.

Members of the initiation team were Marguerite Johnson, Virginia Gammon, Pat Dyer, Jill Bernard, Marilyn Ramsay, Lillian Herrick and Unit President Florence McLaughlin.

The members will meet on Wednesday, May 12, for installation of new officers at 6 p.m. Department Past President Jerri Greenwell of Bethel will be the installing officer. Elected officers are: president, Virginia Gammon; first vice president, Lillian Herrick; second vice president, Jill Bernard; secretary, Marilyn Ramsay; chaplain, Pat Dyer; historian, M. Johnson; sergeant at-arms, Mabel Dunn.

Refreshments will be served after the men hold installation. The business meetings will follow.

The post and unit will meet at 7:30 a.m. Thursday, May 13, at the hall to prepare food that will be taken to Gouin Field by 10 a.m. to serve to about 200 Special Olympics athletes and their helpers. Donations of cookies will be appreciated.

There will be a reception at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 15, at the VFW Hall after the funeral and committal services at 1 p.m. for John Higgins in Oxford.
