LEWISTON – Gil LaPointe, chairman of the lower church restoration committee at Saints Peter and Paul Church, will be the guest speaker of the Saints Peter and Paul Society on Sunday, May 2, following the 8 a.m. breakfast meeting in the Dominican Conference Room.

He was elected chairman in September 2002. LaPointe will speak about the concept plan and the procedures that will be followed to bring the project to completion.

LaPointe is a 1964 graduate of St. Peter’s School and a 1968 graduate of St. Dominic Regional High School. He received a bachelor of science degree in electrical engineering from the University of Massachusetts in Lowell in 1972 and was commissioned a second lieutenant in the Air Force that same year.

He also has a master of science in systems engineering and a master of business administration, both from the Air Force Institute of Technology.

He served more than 22 years on active duty in the U.S. Air Force with overseas assignments in Italy, Turkey and Korea. He retired as a lieutenant colonel on Jan. 1, 1995. He was appointed manager of Saints Peter and Paul Church in November 2002.
