The pages fly by in the Wildcats wing in frantic attempts to try to finish three books by the date of November 20. The Maine Student Book Awards have come. Maine Student Book Award is a program that picks out a number of books kids can read before a certain time. If you read it you get a party. Some of the books are, “Down the Rabbit Hole,” “Flush,” “Princess Academy,” “Cloud Chamber” and many more. I’ve interviewed some students to see their views on the Maine Student Book Awards.

Lucy Knowlton criticized. “some of the books should be at a higher reading level and have a wider range so everyone could find a book they would enjoy. But I do recommend “Down the Rabbit Hole” and “Flush.”

Taren McGray had a little more of a lighter approach. “I think they are fun, I like how they force you to read a different genre or book you wouldn’t normally pick up. But I do agree with Lucy, some books for higher readers would be nice. I recommend the “Penderwicks” though.” That is also what Emily Chase, Kendra Elie, and Taylor Elles said.

Let’s see what Mrs. Nadeau has to say on the Maine Student Book Award. “I think it is awesome. It makes kids who don’t normally read; read and start to enjoy reading for a reward. Also it challenges and widens the range of readers.”

As though to prove Mrs. Nadeau’s word, Ben Ramser’s thoughts were, “I do it because of the party.” No wonder all reading ‘teachers in Maine give high praise to The Maine Student Book Award.

Lets see a parents point of view, Wendy Ramser has, “I think, having been at one of the celebrations, I can see where it gets kids excited about reading.” So as you can see teachers, students and parents in Maine have praise for the books awards, because they help kids enjoy the marvelous benefits of reading.
