FRYEBURG – Oxford County Republicans will hear Republican State Committee Executive Director Dwayne Bickford speak on “Voter Vault and the 2004 Election” at the Tuesday, Aug. 10, meeting at the Fryeburg Fairgrounds beginning with a 5:30 p.m. social hour and a 6:30 supper followed by the speaker and the business meeting.

At the July 13 committee picnic held at Stan Howe’s home in Bethel, the Bethel Republican Town Committee sponsored a barbecue and social hour, which preceded remarks by State Senate candidates Rob Cameron of Rumford and Dave Hastings of Fryeburg.

Chairman Paul Billings complimented the party’s two candidates as especially well-qualified to serve the county and the state.

Cameron unveiled a new banner and a new slogan, “Cameron Can!,” for the race in the newly created Senate District that includes Bethel, Rumford, Mexico and Dixfield in Oxford County and Jay in Franklin County.

Hastings reviewed his campaign organization, which he said was made stronger by his primary race.

Billings recognized several candidates for the House, including Paula Smith of Andover, Bruce Hanley of Paris, Rep. Randy Hotham (R-Dixfield) and Rep. Arlan Jodrey (R-Bethel). Dave Duguay and Steve Merrill, candidates for two county commission seats, were also recognized and shared a few remarks.

Representatives of the Bush-Cheney and Brian Hammel campaigns briefed the group on the latest developments.

It was announced the committee has developed a decorated trailer for parades and special events. Arrangements to use the float should be directed to Billings at 890-9724 or State Committeewoman Becky Kendall at 824-3196.

The Sept. 14 meeting will be held at the Mexico Congregational Church.
