AUBURN – New Auburn Seniors will serve a spaghetti dinner at noon Wednesday, Jan. 21, in the St. Louis Church basement. Cost is $3 and it is for members only. Tickets need to be purchased by Wednesday, Jan. 14.

The regular meeting was held Jan. 7 with Virginia Levasseur, president, presiding. Installation of officers was held: president, Virginia Levasseur; vice president, Fern Bussiere; secretary, Irene Delorme; treasurer, Delice Blais; and corresponding secretary, Joyce Bickford.

January birthdays were noted and small gifts given. A sign-up sheet was circulated for lunch at the Chickadee at 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 19. Any member who wants to go can call Ginger at 783-0273. A trip to Foxwood is being planned. For more information call Jeanne at 784-5264.

Pot of gold winners were Norm Gagnon, Ernest Lamontagne, Priscilla Pelletier and Leon Laplante.

Open bingo for seniors 60 and over will be held Wednesday, Jan. 14 and Wednesday, Jan. 28. The meeting adjourned and a light lunch was served, with bingo following.

Scrapbook Day

LEWISTON – Farwell School will hold a Scrapbook Day, a day of scrapbooking and fun to benefit the school, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 17, at Lewiston High School, East Avenue.

Cost of $20 includes lunch, hourly drawings, a gift for attending and gift bag for the first 100 people to register.

Chorus rehearsals

Monday, Jan. 19, cholesterol screenings sponsored by St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center. Total cholesterol, LDL level and blood pressure will be screened.

Tuesday, Jan. 20, BioPhotonic scanning to check a person’s antioxidant level.

Wednesday, Jan. 21, the American Red Cross will hold a blood drive.

Friday, Jan. 23, bone density testing will be held using ultrasound.

Anger workshop

LEWISTON – A workshop on anger will be held from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 20, at Lewiston-Auburn College, sponsored by the Lewiston Center for Women, Work and Community.

Discussion will include why many people are afraid of anger, reasons unexpressed anger is unhealthy, steps in dealing with anger and how to develop a healthy plan for expressing anger.

Gift program

LEEDS – The Rural Community Action Ministry’s annual Holiday Gift Program had another successful year, due to the generosity of everyone who donated their time and resources to help provide new toys, clothing and food to less privileged families.

Many area businesses, schools, churches, civic groups, families and individuals are responsible for donating gifts to make the program a success.
