Guest speaker
PARIS – Shirley S. Miller will be the speaker at the First Universalist Church, 36 Pine St., South Paris, at 10 a.m. Sunday. Music will be under the direction of Forest Perkins, church organist. Sunday School will be in session and child care is provided. The coffee hour will follow in Good Cheer Hall. Everyone is welcome.
Holiday auction
CASCO – The annual Vendredi Club Christmas Reindeer auction will take place Monday, Dec. 1, in the great room of Casco Village Church, Route 121. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. to preview items. Bidding starts at 7. All items are handcrafted by club members. There will be a special table for children to purchase low-riced items for gift-giving. There will be a raffle and refreshments. Proceeds from the auction go to scholarships for Lake Region High School graduates, Casco Library, rescue, Camp Sunshine, Meal on Wheels and Community Health.

Society to meet
WEST PARIS – The next meeting of the West Paris Historical Society will be held at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 6, at the Bradford House Bed and Breakfast. The group will decide whether to hold meetings this winter or wait until April. There will be the usual gift exchange. At the Nov. 17 meeting, with new president David Ring in charge, it was voted to hold another black powder muzzle loader raffle next year. For more information, call Betty Jones at 774-2507.
Celebration plans
WEST PARIS – Planners for West Paris Old Home Days met recently and set the dates of June 4, 5 and 6 for next year’s event.
New ideas were offered for consideration. The car show, horse and wagon rides and games were approved.
Among those volunteering to work on the event were Todd Poland, Alaine Waterhouse, Butch Durgin and his wife, Nancy Henderson, Martha Roberts, Ted and Betty Jones and Rodney Richard.
The committee is looking for volunteers to head up the flea market and tent management. The next meeting will be at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 3, at the town office.
