LEWISTON – Advocates for Children announces that it has become a voucher site for the Maine Child Safety Seat Program.
By offering the service, the agency will be able to provide free vouchers for safety seats and boosters that meet the federal standards. The vouchers will be available at Advocates for Children at the B Street Community Center, 57Birch St.
To inquire about eligibility or availability, call Kim Sprague, certified car seat safety technician, at 783-3990. Some of the information that will be needed is age, height and weight of the child, along with the make, model and year of the car in which the safety seat will most frequently be used.
State law requires the operator of a motor vehicle ensure that a child who weighs at least 40 pounds but less than 80 pounds and who is less than 8 years of age is properly secured in a federally approved child restraint system.
