FARMINGTON – Fiction writer Deborah Joy Corey will read from the “The Skating Pond,” her new novel set in Maine, at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 10, at the University of Maine at Farmington. Sponsored by the Creative Writing Program and the Writers Guild, the reading will take place in Lincoln Auditorium in the Gwilym Roberts Learning Center.
Corey’s novel concerns the story of Elizabeth, a woman from the working-class coastal town, who is married and pregnant at age 16 and trapped. The book has been widely praised, winning enthusiastic reviews from The New York Times Book Review, The Lost Angeles Times and publications throughout New England.
