Proceeds from the light sales will benefit veterans.
LOCKE MILLS – Jackson-Silver Post, American Legion Auxiliary, will meet for a membership supper at 6 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 6.
The auxiliary is selling Christmas light bulbs for the trees on Legion hall grounds for $2 each. The bulbs are in memory or honor of a veteran or a family member. Proceeds will benefit veterans. Donations can be made through members of the auxiliary or sent to Jackson-Silver Auxiliary, P.O. Box 188, Greenwood, ME 04255.
The auxiliary hosted Boys and Girls State candidates at a recent and the students spoke about their experiences. Among those present were Ben Shimamura, Alyson Storck, Santana Wilson and Lindsey Farrington. Nora Thombs, Girls State director, and her assistant, Caroleen Caldwell, also attended.
The auxiliary has made donations to the Women Veterans Expo and to a junior member who will be traveling to Spain and France in the spring with a high school group.
