LEWISTON – A teaching on the encyclical of Pope John Paul II titled “Ecclesia de Eucharistia” (Church of the Eucharist) will be presented by Sister Elizabeth Madden from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 11, at St. Joseph’s Parish Hall.

Madden is a member of the Servants of the Blessed Sacrament, which is a contemplative, non-cloistered Eucharistic community with spiritual ministries in the Catholic Church. She has completed studies in theology, scripture and spirituality, and is certified in Ignatian spirituality and direction.

Madden’s talk will discuss how the pope’s encyclical witnesses his profound faith in the presence of the risen Lord in the church through the sacrament of the Eucharist and also how it reflects his concern for the understanding of Catholics regarding this central mystery of the faith.

Light refreshments will be served starting at 9 a.m. and all are welcome.
