SABATTUS – The Sabattus Fire Department, through a grant from the Maine Communities Foundation, will offer a free smoke detector or replacement batteries to Sabattus residents who are in need of early warning devices.
As part of Fire Prevention Week Oct. 5 to 11, the department will host a fire prevention and early-warning workshop from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 11, at the Ralph Winslow Fire Station, Main Street.
Attendees will hear a State Fire Marshal’s Office investigator discuss safety tips and proper use and maintenance of early warning devices. Those requesting detectors or batteries can register for a home visit and installation by members of the department.
The workshop is open to all Sabattus residents, whether or not they request a device. For more information, call Jon Mennealy at 375-8105.
